I live in Riverside, Ohio, and these are my opinions on how the city operates and handles its citizen's concerns.
- Is the city leadership handling citizen's concerns properly and timely?
- Is the city leadership making good fiduciary decisions?
- Are residential street and zoning matters being handled?
There are days where I believe the answers to all of those questions is a resounding NO!
But, how can we fix it? There are a few ways we can attempt to make the city better.
- Run for city council
Did you know, in 20 years of elected official history, with a mayor, and 6 council members, the city has only had 14 different people serve?
- Show up at bi-weekly council meetings and speak up during citizen comments.
- Call up the city and voice your concerns to the city manager, or zoning, or the police department
- Request Freedom of Information Act data from the city to support your position on matters
There are currently 2 issues that I have a vested interest in:
- Springfield Street redesign - a 6 million dollar boondoogle to slow traffic, limit access, and offer no economic benefit to this city.
- Parking in residential areas - trucks and trailers parking on streets causing traffic hazards
